Dr. Chan is the PCT's Scientific Director, and he has served in this position since July 2002.
Dr. Chan is an internationally recognized scientist in the field of photo medicine with expertise in the use of fluorescence agents in medical applications. He has developed photo sensitizers, chemical drugs, and liposome technologies for the decontamination of infectious pathogens in blood and blood products and other applications. He has performed research in ionizing radiation and the effect of chemical agents on cellular responses and tumorigenicity. Dr. Chan is proficient in Flow Cytometry/FACS; is skilled in establishing specific optimal parameters for cell analysis and sorting; and is experienced in the area of product characterization.
Dr. Chan has a broad interest in cell separation and selection technology for immunotherapeutic applications. He has developed protocols for the enrichment and depletion of cell types using the COBE 2991 Cell Washer and the ISOLEX 300i Magnetic Cell Selector. At the PCT, he focuses on pre-clinical development work and on the scientific assessment of results and expectations of client projects.
Dr. Chan received his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Experimental Cell Pathology from Oxford University.
