Tissue Storage
PCT's capabilities include the ability to store patient-derived tissue at temperatures ranging from 85°C-196°C (liquid nitrogen).
Our cellular inventory is protected by bulk liquid nitrogen supply and is monitored by remote alarms, daily quality control, and appropriate preventive maintenance.
We are actively pursuing an opportunity to provide preparation and dedicated storage for patient-specific tumor tissue in a cGMP-bank for a major testing laboratory. The intention is to secure these tissues in a manner suitable with preserving their potential as both future diagnostic purposes and for making vaccines for these patients as suitable technology is developed.
Distribution & Transportation
The delivery of cell therapies is complex and requires extensive product control and monitoring. In order to succeed, we believe that the commercialization of cell therapies will need to overcome several weaknesses held by the major carriers, including the lack of a true point-to-point chain of control; non-controlled X-ray and inspection; no guarantee of package orientation, handling, or storage conditions; and in many cases, no standard operating procedures.
We believe that a successful transportation network for the cell therapy industry would require several key components:
As part of our long-term growth strategy, Progenitor Cell Therapy has undertaken the creation of a specialized division, tentatively named PCT-Express, dedicated to serve the specific, unique transport needs of medical shippers. By virtue of the activities of this division, PCT is capable of handling the cellular materials from collection through manufacturing and delivery back to the patient.
Our delivery system is designed to maintain patient-specific product control from cellular acquisition to re-infusion. A key component of this system is an adequate logistics and transportation network capable of accomplishing the coordinated movement of cellular material to accommodate patient schedules.
PCT uses a specialty air carrier with a fleet of over 130 aircrafts serving over 100 cities nationwide, as a solution for our transportation needs. The carrier has built new business lines in shipping medical products, including whole blood and blood products; tissues for transplantation; and diagnostic specimens. It also handles cryologically preserved specimens and biologics.
Our transportation network maintains the highest standards in the transportation and handling of our customers' cell products. In addition, shipments are closely tracked, and our customers have confidence in the abilities of our transportation partners.
